Artivism for Peace - Timeline & Activities

Workshops:
From June to August 2011, Project Artivism for Peace will be hosting two simultaneous workshops: one on collective painting organized into a circle theme with Circle Painting, the other on movable murals with UNESCO Art Miles Mural Project.

Each workshop will consist of 10 children from vulnerable communities of Santiago, Chile and will be facilitated by an artist from project Artivism for Peace over the course of one month. From June to August, 60 children will participate in total.

On the following dates we also plan to host open workshops where anyone is invited to experience the transformative power of art

June 1, celebration of International Children´s Day
July 16, Festival la Tirana, festival of all indigenous cultures in Chile
August 9, International Day of Indigenous Peoples

Exhibition & Auction:
The children´s paintings and 3 movable murals will be exhibited and auctioned, first in Chile and then in the US with the generous help of Circle Painting and UNESCO Art Miles Mural Project.

Mini-documentary:
A mini-documentary will be filmed on the workshops, the conversations and impacts they generate both for the children and for the spectator. The mini-documentary will be presented to UNESCO Art Miles Mural Project.

Manual on community art projects:
A manual on the learning and methodology of designing & implementing future community art projects to combine art and activism.
